The senior hurlers played the semi final of the Leinster league last Wednesday night in Bray against the hosts. This was an exciting encounter for this time of year and was played in front of a large crowd who weren't disappointed. Carnew led for alot of the game and will rue some missed chances. The game was level at full time and after a gruelling extra time, Bray finished on top by the narrowest of margines. We wish them the best of luck in the final as they fly the flag for wicklow hurling. Also a big thanks to the club for their hospitality after the match. The cup of tea was very welcome before the long journey home!
The senior footballers played host to Baltinglass last saturday night in division 1 of the league. It was a close first half but two killer blows before half-time saw the visitors go in 8 points up.Carnew held their own in the second half but the lack of football in recent weeks was apparent.Alot of work to do in both codes over the next few weeks.
The junior hurling league kicks off this week on Wednesday night away to arklow rocks while the junior footballers are away to Barrandarrig on Thursday night.
If you have any news from the juvenile section to ladies football or camogie, and you want to put it in the paper , please contact Nick on 0876399579 or e mail [email protected] before Sunday night of each week.
