The club extends its sympathy to the family, relations and friends of Michael J Hennessy on his recent death. Mickey Joe, devoted a lifetime of service to Glenroe GAA Club, both as a player and as a club officer. He occupied the position of club secretary from 1975 to 1977 and served as PRO and team manager in 1985. He was part of the successful team of 1974. He provided the field lighting for the
county final training sessions in 1974 and his garage served as a dressing room. He played in goals in the mid 1970s when Glenroe contested three intermediate hurling county finals in a row.

He was instrumental in ensuring that the history of Glenroe GAA Club from the beginning of the Gaelic Athletic Association up to the late 1980s was put into print in the 'Glenroe Memories'. He was a founder member of Ballyhoura Bears Walking Club.

The large attendance both at the removal, Mass and burial bore testimony to his popularity.
