Culleton, Brian

May 16, 2012
The death of Brian Culleton, which took place in St Vincent's Hospital on Monday evening shocked and saddened gaels throughout the county.

Monaghan man Brian came to live and work in Avoca in 1960 and straight away became involved with the Avoca GAA club. He held some officer-ship in the club, mostly secretary for all of the 50 odd years since then. He was also involved with the county board and with a number of sub committees. His great love was hurling but he was also a great football follower.
He was at all of Wicklow's matches in the early stages of this year, including the Fermanagh match in Brewster Park, the Carlow match in Dr Cullen Park and the Leitrim match in Aughrim. He was also a great follower of the hurling team and an admirer of Casey O'Brien.

He will also be remembered as the man who was overseer on the building of the stand in Aughrim. In fact it could be said that after his family Brian's great love in life was the GAA.
To his wife Mary, his seven daughters and extended family we tender our sympathy. May he rest in peace.
