Senior – Very hard luck to our Seniors who were up against their nemesis Rathnew in Aughrim on Sat 8 Aug. At half time Blessington were leading by 2pts on a scoreline of 1-07 to 0-08. It was a very dramatic finish to normal time when deep into injury time and 7 pts from Rathnew brought the crowd to their feet as David Boothman took a 47-yard free to level the match 1-16 to 2-13. Following the 1st half of extra time Blessington led by 1pt. 2-18 to 2-17. Back and forth it went until Rathnew led by 1pt. Last chance saloon and the job to level the score to go to penalties fell to Captain fantastic David Boothman. There was a lot of confusion when the umpires could not call it and following a conversation with the linesman the ref signalled a wide to the disbelief of the Blessington players and supporters.
