Leinster Club IFC: Surprise packets Mullinavat set up final clash with Mattock Rangers

Mullinavat have qualified for a Leinster Club IFC final showdown with Mattock Rangers of Louth.

The Kilkenny champions continued their winning ways with a fully deserved 2-10 to 1-7 semi-final success over Rosenallis of Laois at the MW Hire Dunmore grounds today.

The first-half finished with the winners 1-4 to 0-3 to the good and they carved a niche for themselves in the history books as the first team from Kilkenny to defeat O’Moore County opposition in a provincial football competition.

Meanwhile, Louth representatives Mattock Rangers booked their final ticket courtesy of a comprehensive 2-17 to 0-9 success over Dunlavin of Wicklow at Stabannon Parnells’ grounds.

Early goals from David Reid and Shane Hickey sent the Collon outfit on the road to victory.

They led by 2-4 to 0-3 at the change of ends and subsequently outscored the visitors by 0-13 to 0-6 in the second-half.

The final is fixed to be played on Saturday, December 7th.
