August 06, 2019

Rathnew Gaa 1885 is the clubs one and only official Facebook page. Any other page with our name has nothing to do with our club is not run by anyone in our club.

We had no winner of the lotto jackpot on the 29th July. Numbers 3, 4, 5, 10. We had 2 match 3 Nigel Manley c/o Self, Karen Killeen c/o Ann Keogh. At the time of writing the jackpot stands at €12,100. Get your tickets from Doyle's, The Arches, The Village Inn, Rockies, Healy's Mini Market, View hair & beauty, Malone's, Dowling's Butchers and Centra every Friday and Saturday evening. Thanks to everyone who supports our lotto.

The 2019 Kellogg's cul camp dates have been released. Rathnew will be hosting it the week starting the 12th of August. It's always a brilliant week for the kids so book early on kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie or follow the link on our Facebook page.

The nursery continues every Saturday morning at 11.15 and it's for all kids aged 3 upwards so feel free to bring your little ones up and give it a try.

The club is running a draw for tickets to both the All Ireland senior football and hurling finals. Tickets are €2 each or 3 for €5 and are available from any committee member and at Saturday morning coaching.

A massive thanks to Roberta from the Hairy man barbers Wicklow Town on sponsoring a new set of jerseys for the under 13 team ans also to Josh McGettigan for sponsoring new tops for the lads.

Well done to both the under 14 and 16 girls who had championship wins last week. The under 14s beat Newtown 3-08 to 3-04 while the under 16s beat Vallymount. The under 12 had their first win in division 1 beating Baltinglass 3-04 to 0-04. Brilliant stuff from all the girls on the three teams. Good luck to the ladies team who take on Blessington on Friday night in the championship at home with an 8pm throw in.

Another battling display from the senior team on Saturday evening beating Tinahely 1-11 to 1-10 while playing once again with 14 players for a long period of the match this time only the 50 minutes but the lads still pulled through with Gary Byrnes thunderbolt goal the vital score. Next up is Hollywood on Sunday 18th at 1pm. The intermediate team lost out to Carnew on Friday evening 3-06 to 1-08. On another day this match could have gone our way but it wasn't to be. Next up in the championship is Kilcoole in Newcastle on Friday 16th. The Junior B team begin their championship campaign on Thursday away to Baltinglass at 8 pm. The under 11 reds are away to Eire Og on Wednesday at 7pm while the greens are home to Blessington at 7.15. The under 15s are down to play Baltinglass in Ballinakill on Sunday at 6 while the minors are away to An Tochar on Monday at 7.15 with the under 13s playing St. Kevins at home in the championship at 7.30 also on Monday.

Well done to Eoin Doyle, Ross Quinn and the rest of the county under 16 team who defeated Antrim on Saturday in the Gerry Reilly shield semi final and now take on Laois in the final on Saturday 17th.

Everyone in the club wishes Ross O'Brien the very best in what is hopefully a speedy recovery from his nasty injury on Saturday. Knowing Ross in how he looks after himself and gives 100% in everything he does he'll no doubt be back in no time.
