Lacken-Kilbride club notes

July 31, 2019

Sadly, the club had to cancel all Juvenile training last Monday.  Unfortunately, Blessington pitches were booked up with training and matches.  Blessington and Valleymount GAA clubs have been extremely helpful over this difficult and most perilious period for the club.  Valleymount have kindly allowed our Ladies team to use their pitch for matches and Blessington have been very accommodating with our Juveniles, Under 14 Girls and Ladies both using their facilities to train.

Hollywood GAA club have also extended their resources and have offered to help if required and when possible.  Its great to see the community pulling together helping another club in difficulty.

The club are extremely grateful and appreciative.

Without any notice the club pitch was locked on or before holy Thursday and we have been refused access since.  A pitch which the club has rented since 1980 for matches, training, Cul Camps, and all sorts social events in the community.  We hope to provide a more positive outlook in the near future.

Under 14’s Ladies

The Under 14’s Ladies under the tutelage of Rionach Craul and Donal Gahan, played a home fixture in Blessington v Ashford on Tuesday.  The girls put in a great effort and continue to develop. They lost but never gave up throughout and put in a great performance.

Under 11’s

The Under 11’s continue to make good progress, and I notice they aren’t picking or touching the ball on the ground as much when picking up the ball.  Last Monday they had a great win against Laragh and there current league status is, played 8, won 3 and close in all the other 5 matches.  Next match Bray Emmets at home at 7.15PM, 7th of August.

Men’s Football

The lads travelled to Baltinglass in the first round of the championship, well played to the lads who put in a great shift, final score 0-3 to 0-13 in favour of Coolboy-Shillelagh.  Next match this Saturday in Baltinglass at 6PM v Aughrim (Ref: Pat Dunne).
