Rathnew club notes

June 17, 2019

Rathnew Gaa 1885 is the clubs one and only official Facebook page. Any other page with our name has nothing to do with our club is not run by anyone in our club.

With the season started for all teams any club gear can be bought on the Rathnew shop on the O'Neill's website or just follow the link on our Facebook page.

There was no winner of the lotto jackpot on the 10th June Numbers 9, 11, 18, 25. We had 4 match 3, Clara Franey, Margaret Jameson, Alex&PJ c/o Healy's, John & Pat Hunter. At the time of writing the jackpot stands at €11,200. Get your tickets from Doyle's, The Arches, The Village Inn, Rockies, Healy's Mini Market, View hair & beauty, Malone's, Dowling's Butchers and Centra every Friday and Saturday evening from 5.30pm. Thanks to everyone who supports our lotto.

Membership is now well over due. It is vital that all adult and juveniles pay their membership or they are not covered if injured. If no effort is made to pay then they will be unable to train or play. Contact the team coaches for membership details.

The 2019 Kellogg's cul camp dates have been released. Rathnew will be hosting it the week starting the 12th of August. It's always a brilliant week for the kids so book early on kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie or follow the link on our Facebook page.

A massive thanks to Gaelic Plant Hire for once again coming on board as the main sponsor of the juvenile section of the club. Thanks to Keith, Noel and team for their continued support.

Our family Fun day is on this Saturday 22nd from 1-4. There will be plenty of fun for the kids and hopefully we get the good weather. We have an inflatable pitch for a blitz, a 7 meter dart board, inflatable goal posts, win a gold fish, horse and cart, BBQ, golf chipping, raffle, popcorn and candy floss, kickfoda and plenty plenty more. Hope to see you all there.

Pride of place goes to the under 12 girls team for winning the division 2 league for the second year in a row. An unbelievable effort from all the girls and management all season is now paying dividends and they now move up to division one. They are the first team ever in the club to be playing in a top division. On Saturday morning at training county players Niamh Mcgettigan and Sarah Miley presented the girls with their winning trophy. Well done to everyone and thanks to Niamh and Sarah for their time presenting the trophy.

Well done also to the under 14 girls beating St. Pats away on Thursday 4-14 to 1-5 and to Shannon Sweeney and Sophie Murphy who represented Wicklow in a county under 13 blitz in portlaoise on Saturday.

The junior B team kept up their perfect league campaign on Thursday beating An Tochar 4-14 to 1-5 to stay top of the league. Hard luck to the senior team who lost away to Baltinglass on Friday night. Best of luck to JT Moorehouse, Sam oDowd, Ciaran Coffey and the rest of the county under 20 team who play Wexford on Saturday in the Leinster championship. Kevin Gill is also a selector on the team.

Happy birthday to two great supporters of the club with Mary Dowling turning 80 and Laurence Doyle turning 50 and also congratulations to Lee Ryan and Naomi Nolan on their recent wedding. Condolences to the family of John Power (kirvin hill) who sadly passed away last week. May he rest in peace.
