Our ladies made the long journey to Carnew  and made it worthwhile coming away with a hard fought win 0-7 v 0-2 victory. The ladies sit second in their league with only 1 loss and are working really hard under the management of Aoife Heffernan and Mags Sinnott. Next up Blessington 

Last Thursday an ‘experienced Junior B team beat Ashford 5-12 v 0-15

Friday 3rd May saw our Seniors beat Bray Emmets 0-15 v 1-5, this was excellent performance  from the lads. The men continued their winning run to 4 games  with a battling win against Eire Og with a score line of 1-12 v 0-11 in Newtown and followed this with a 5th consecutive win with a hard fought but well deserved victory over a competitive Annacurra side away last Friday night. It was a close game throughout but some late Newtown goals secured another 2 points for Newtown who take on league leaders Dunlavin in Newtown, please check fixtures for throw in times 

The Juniors beat Bray Emmets two weeks ago, after trailing 7-3 at the break but digging deep the lads came back to win 11-10. 

Newtown U17s had a narrow loss on Monday 29th April 2-7 v 1-5 against St Pats. A significant improvement from their first game a few weeks back. Keep the good work up. Derry Gaels away scheduled for Tuesday 7th May. Great work being done by James Doyle from Ashford and our own Ray Clarke and Pappa Davis

Our u15’s has a great win against Naomi Eoin Gaels in Avoca Thursday night with a strong first half display coming away with a 5-12 v 2-12 score line. Our lads are settling in well with the Ashford team thanks to Lee Fitzpatrick and his coaching staff

The U11s boys made the long trip to Carnew last night for their third league game and suffered their first defeat against a strong home side.

Newtown didn’t get going at all in the first half and the game looked well beyond them at half time. However to their credit they came out a different team in the second half and were on top for most of the second half pulling the defect back to 2 scores at one stage but Carnew finished the last 5 minutes strongly and knocked over a few quick scores to run out good winners in the end. 

Well done to all the players to made the long journey and battled away to the end and to the great work being done by Peter Heffernan and Ruairi Martin. The team was:

The Newtown community is sadly all too familiar with the profound effect suicide can have on families and the community, so well done to all who took part in the Darkness into Light walk last Saturday morning in aid of Pieta house, to help in the global fight against suicide and self-harm. Pieta House provides a free, therapeutic approach to people who are in suicidal distress and those who engage in self-harm. Newtown GAA is pleased to announce that some proceeds from the Sean McShane memorial golf classic will be donated this year to Pieta house. 

 

Membership is now due. Fees for the year are- Adults Playing and working €75; Non playing Adults €50; Students and Unemployed players €50; Juveniles €40 & Nursery €20
