Rathnew club notes

April 23, 2019

Rathnew Gaa 1885 is the clubs one and only official Facebook page. Any other page with our name has nothing to do with our club is not run by anyone in our club.

With the season started for all teams any club gear can be bought on the Rathnew shop on the O'Neill's website or just follow the link on our Facebook page. We also have a few jerseys for sale with details on our Facebook page.

There was no winner of the lotto jackpot on the 15th April. Numbers 4, 17, 26, 28. We had no match 3's. At the time of writing the jackpot stands at €10,400. Get your tickets from Doyle's, The Arches, The Village Inn, Rockies, Healy's Mini Market, View hair & beauty, Malone's, Dowling's Butchers and Centra every Friday and Saturday evening from 5.30pm. Thanks to everyone who supports our lotto.

Membership is now well over due. It is vital that all adult and juveniles pay their membership or they are not covered if injured. If no effort is made to pay then they will be unable to train or play. Contact the team coaches for membership details.

The 2019 Kellogg's cul camp dates have been released. Rathnew will be hosting it the week starting the 12th of August. It's always a brilliant week for the kids so book early on kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie or follow the link on our Facebook page.

The fundraising committee are holding the rearranged poker classic in Doyle's on Friday 26th April with it starting at 8.30pm. €20 entry with unlimited €10 buy-ins and resale at the interval. Thanks to everyone who helped with the Easter raffle especially all the kids and parents who sold the sponsor cards and to Tommy Murphy and Butlers chocolate for the prizes. The annual Kevin Gill golf classic is on Saturday 18th may in Wicklow golf club. More details to follow.

The nursery is back on Saturday mornings at 11.15am. It is for all kids aged 3 upwards. Contact James Stafford 0833193238 for more details.

Hard luck to the intermediate team who lost to Baltinglass in the league on Saturday afternoon. The  junior B team got the league campaign off to a winning start against Newtown on Thursday. The under 11 green team had a great win over St. Pats while the under 15 team ended up playing a friendly against Eire Og as no referee turned up both on last Wednesday. Fixtures ahead for the week start with the junior B's home to An Tochar and the under 13's away to Shillelagh/coolboy and the under 16 girls home to Eire og all on Thursday evening. The intermediates are home to Laragh on Saturday at 4pm while the senior team are also home on Sunday morning to Baltinglass at 11.

All in the club send its condolences to the family of Carmel Culbert who sadly passed away last week. A great supporter of the club who will be missed by all in the village. May she rest in peace.

Congratulations to Colm and Bridget Franey on the birth of their baby daughter Saoirse.
