For the first time in their history, the Wicklow senior mens’ and ladies’ footballers will form a double header in Aughrim next month.

On February 10th, Aughrim will be the venue as Wicklow ladies take on Down in the LGFA Division Three clash and this will be followed by the meeting of John Evans' charges against Limerick in the NFL Division Four campaign.

This will the first time in the history of Wicklow GAA that such a double header will be held and Leinster LGFA President Dominic Leech stated to the Wicklow People that the GAA deserve great credit for supporting the idea.

“As Leinster President and member of the national management of ladies football, we are encouraging counties to try and accommodate double bills as far as possible during the national football leagues and we are delighted that Wicklow GAA County Board have shown their support and made this a reality in Aughrim in February,” said Leech.

“They’ve taken this a step further and I know that the Wicklow ladies squad are very enthusiastic about the double bill and I hope that people will come out and support them on the day.”
