St. Patrick’s GAA will host the Wicklow Hire and Hardware 5K/10K Autumn Challenge walk/run Fund Raiser on Sunday 23rd September 2018 from Dunbur at 10.30am. Registration starts at 9am. U13 €5, 5K - €10 and 10K €15.

Refreshments will be provided in the clubhouse. ALL WELCOME. Please support.

 

What a weekend for St Patrick’s with 3 teams out of 3 progressing in their respective championships.

In a wet and windy Avondale on Saturday evening the first team out was our Intermediate Ladies who took on Tinahely in their championship semi-final. The girls started brightly and blitzed the Tinahely goal to go in at half-time with a deserving St. Pats 6-05 Tinahely 0-01 lead. The girls continued playing an exciting style of football to head to the County final with the final score St Patrick’s 7-12 Tinahely 1-06.

Up next on Saturday evening, Our Senior Ladies matched up against Baltinglass in the first of the Senior Championship semi-finals in Avondale. In a very competitive game played in woeful weather conditions both teams played good football with St. Patricks ahead at half-time: St. Patrick’s 2-05  Baltinglass 1-04 The second half Baltinglass came firing out of the blocks to draw level. Both teams traded score for score with the conditions causing errors for both teams. In the end St Patricks deserved their hard fought victory over a gallant Baltinglass team with the full time score of St Patrick’s 3-08 Baltinglass 2-09.

Preparations will now kick into top gear as both teams focus on their County Final preparations. As of this morning, the following are the arrangements for County Finals day in the GAA County Grounds in Aughrim on Saturday, 22nd September.

Junior Final -12 noon Eire Og, Greystones v An Tochar

Intermediate Final - 2.00pm Valleymount v St. Patrick’s (Inter)

Senior Final - 4pm St. Patrick’s v Tinahely.

We wish both of our squads the best of luck in their quest for an unique double.

 

On Sunday our Senior Lads travelled to Aughrim for the final game of the round robin series to take on last year’s beaten finalist’s Blessington. St Patricks started brightly against the wind and found the net three times in the opening half with goals from Tommy Kelly, Stephen Duffy and John Crowe to be ahead at half time: St Patrick’s 3-02 Blessington 0-07. The expected back lash from Blessington never materialised and St. Patricks played nice controlled football and took some nice points to be deserving winners and heading straight to the Senior County Semi-final with the Full time score St. Patrick’s 3-09 Blessington 0-11

Well done to the St. Pats u13 White football team for a strong team performance against Ashford in the 1st round of the Div 3 Championship. It was a very close game and in the end Ashford won by the narrowest of margins. A great experience for our players many of which are underage again next year. This team march onto the Shield competition now. Details of our next match. Thanks to Brian, Rob and Gerry for managing the team on the night. 


Our u10 girls played a friendly in Laragh on Saturday morning against Clara! Well done to all involved.

 

Congratulations to Wicklow Ladies Football star Clodagh Fox. Player of the game in the Toronto GAA ladies senior final for Durham Robert Emmets GFC and instrumental in their victory. Joining in the celebrations with her biggest fan her mother after the final whistle

Our "Little Warriors" will continue on Saturdays at 10am for Boys and Girls age 4-6. Fun games, getting to meet new friends and learning new skills, are what our nursery is all about. We look forward to welcoming those back from last year and meeting our new recruits!

Our sincere condolences to the family of Rita Bouchier (née Byrne) of Ballinameesda, Kilbride who passed away peacefully in her 90th year on 6th September 2018 at St Columcille’s Hospital, Loughlinstown. Predeceased by her beloved husband Sean and brother Jimmy. Loving mother of Elizabeth, Christo, Johnny, Danny, Colin and Paul and sister of Eileen and Christy. Sadly missed by her loving family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
