Goals from Meehaul McGrath and Naoise Waldron sent Derry on the road to a convincing Christy Ring Cup second round success over Armagh at the Athletic Grounds today.

Collie McGuirk's side overturned a four-point half-time deficit to run out convincing 2-30 to 1-14 winners over the Orchard County.

The hosts enjoyed a bright start with Stephen Renaghan finding the back of the Derry net early on but that score was cancelled out by McGrath in the 17th minute.

Nevertheless, the opening period finished with the home side 1-12 to 1-8 to the good.

It was all one-way traffic after the break, however, and Waldron's 46th minute goal left Armagh with too big a mountain to climb.

Goals from Andy O'Brien (penalty) and Danny Staunton helped Wicklow overcome Roscommon by 2-16 to 0-16 in Athleague.

O'Brien was later sent off on receipt of a yellow card early in the second-half but the Garden County held on for a deserved win.

The visitors led by 1-8 to 0-10 at the change of ends.

Meanwhile, Kildare edged out Mayo by 2-14 to 1-15 in Ballina.

The Lilywhites trailed by 0-8 to 0-10 at the halfway stage but they seized the initiative in the 40th minute when Shane Ryan pounced for the first of their two goals.
