Ballymanus Club Notes

April 23, 2018

What a weekend last weekend proved for our little club - a clean sweep all round. On Saturday the intermediates overcame Vallymount by 4pts in the league on a scoreline 1-14 to 13pts with Pauric getting the goal. Then on Sunday we had the official opening of our field. Blessed with the weather we had a great turnout, with all our juveniles getting a run out, our u15's played and beat Annacurra, and Mark captained Wicklow to victory against Limerick, chipping in with an impressive display and 4pts for good measure. The club would like to thank the GAA President John Horan; Chairman of the Leinster Council Jim Bolger; and Wicklow GAA Chairman Martin Fitzgerald for attending and opening the grounds. Internally, there are a lot of people who need to be thanked. Firstly club Chairman Pat Carthy and Michael Stapleton who drove the development and who represented the club admirably at the opening also. To club secretary Tara & Orla who had everything planned to a tee and made it all happen. To Jim for his hours of dedication; all our sponsors; all who helped get the field ready in the days previous; brought sandwiches, buns, made tea; sold tickets; marshalled the roads or just attended on the day - thank you all. We have only a small little community but we are a small proud community, which when we stand together can hold our own with the best of them. Take a bow everyone - we have a club grounds now the envy of many around the county. On other matters there was no lotto jackpot winner last weekend. The numbers drawn were 3,12,16,28 with Pat Byrne the only match three winner. There is only a week left to get your horse for the club race night. All racecards to be returned on May 1st.
