Wicklow and Carlow GAA are mourning the death of former intercounty hurler Mick O'Brien.

Mick, who passed away on New Year's Eve, represented both counties with distinction during the course of a brilliant hurling career that spanned more than two decades.

Originally from Hacketstown, Mick won an All-Ireland intermediate medal with Carlow in 1962 and added a junior All-Ireland title with the Garden County nine years later.

He was selected on the Wicklow Hurling Team of the Century.
