St Patricks club notes

December 11, 2017

Congratulations to Casey and all involved with the Senior Footballers who made the short journey to Merrymeeting to take on near neighbours Rathnew in the Dunne Cup semi-final last Tuesday. On a wintry evening under lights, St. Pats started brightly with scores from Tommy Kelly and Jordan Petticrew. With both sides missing scoring opportunities,  Rathnew playing against the wind found the net to go in at half-time: St. Pats 0-03 Rathnew 1-01. St Pats began the second half with a strong performance from Stephen Duffy who kicked some excellent scores against the wind. At full time the sides could not be separated St. Pats 0-09 Rathnew 1-06. After some confusion it was agreed to play extra time. St Pats played against the wind in the first half of extra time, with two scores from Stephen Duffy St Pats were in front 2 points to 1. The second half of extra time St Pats played some nice football with Stephen Duffy finding Shane Murley in space who scored two points with Stephen Duffy adding two more. A good all round performance with excellent work rate throughout saw the lads emerge deserving winners on a full time score after extra time: St. Patricks 0-16 Rathnew 1-09. St. Patricks will now meet Blessington in the Final of the Dunne Cup, date, time and venue to be confirmed by the county Board. Keep an eye on the fixtures.
