Seniors - The Dunne Cup Semi-finals Blessington v Baltinglass was postponed on Fri 3 Nov. It will now be played on Sat 18 Nov. Venue and time TBC.

 

Junior B - Well done to Jun B team who beat AGB 3-10 to 1-12 on Sat 4 Nov in Hollywood to win the Finan Cup.At half time Blesso led by 2-04 to 0-04. Last 20 mins was heart stopping stuff as AGB got to within a point of us. Thanks to the lads who togged out on the day and to Steven Doyle and Peter Behan who managed the boys. A great way to finish off the year. James Kearns accepted the Finan Cup on behalf of the team. Scores came from Sean Mescall 2-05, Stephen Carroll 1-02, Adam Boland (0-2), Jono Daniels (0-01).

Girls Presentation Night - Girls Annual Presentation Night Wed 22nd Nov at 7pm in the Community College. Awards from U7 up to U16 will be presented on the night. Our Special Guests will be some of the All Ireland Winning Dublin Ladies Team with their manager Mick Bohan. A brilliant night in store to reflect on a great year for our girls' teams!

 

U9 and U10 girls - What a year had the girls U10's and U9's, winning almost every challenge match they played in. Under 10's played Wicklow blitzes throughout the season winning well against the opposition, some superstars on show each week. The under 9 girls won every Kildare league match crowning them the winners of the league. The girls all played well, super teamwork by every one of them. A great effort put in for 2017 which is a true reflection of all the hard work they put in at training. Well done to all.

 

Lakeside U16 Relay Team - Well done to Maura Reid and her girls who won Young Sports person of the Year award at the Blessington and District Forum awards event in the Avon Ri on Fri 3 Nov. Well done to Niamh Cullen, Amy Allen, Allanah McGuire and Zoe Kirkman.

U9's - The U9's finished their season with a blitz in Naas GAA where we fielded 2 teams and played Naas, Kilmacud Crokes and Sarsfields. All the football was of a very high standard with the lads gaining great experience playing at this level ...Stand out players were Alfie Callaghan, Jamie O'Toole and Callum Dempsey. The lads start their winter programme this coming Mon night 6 Nov in St Joseph's Hall.

 

U11's - We had two great results on Sunday 5 Nov to reach the final of the Allen Cup and Ray Daniels Cup. We beat Kiltegan away in the Allen Cup and Shillelagh at home in the Ray Daniels Cup. It's a fantastic achievement for the lads to reach final of both cups and is first time Blessington or any club have managed it as far as we know. We'll have training Wednesday and Friday evening to prepare for both finals. 

 

U12's/U13's - Training Wed evening 6.30pm - 8pm. U12 Final v Raheens on Fri/Sat. Awaiting confirmation.

 

U13's - U13 Division 1 Shield semi-final Blessington V Eire Og  Mon 6 Nov in Roundwood at 7.15pm.

U13 Hurling Championship Final - A big congratulations to the 6 Blessington hurlers who won the U13A County Final on Sun 5 Nov in Ballinakill with Michael Dwyers. Representing Blessington on the squad were Adam Williamson, Sam Gough, Conor Richardson, Finn Behan, Brian Richardson and Captain Austin Brennan. On a scoreline of 4-07 to 3-05 the team put in a heroic second half performance playing against a strong breeze. Having played with the wind in the first half they were just 5 points to the good and many didn't give them a chance of holding out against a strong and well drilled Glenealy outfit. But the lads from the West stood up to the challenge and held on to their 5 point lead. Well done to all the players and management involved and thanks to Glenealy for a great game of hurling. 

U15 Hurling Championship Final -Hard luck to Michael Dwyers U15 hurling team especially our club lads who lost the final to Tomacork by 2 points (goal in injury time) in Ballinakill on Sun 5 Nov. Blesso lads on the team - Patrick Doherty, Conor Gilligan, Oisin Brogan and Jake O'Kelly.

Call for Stewards - Anyone available from the club who would be able to Steward on Sun 12 Nov please text Noreen 0872858375 before 12 noon on Tues 7 Nov. On Sun 12 Nov Rathnew will play St Vincents (Dublin) in the Leinster Senior Football Championship in Joule park Aughrim at 2pm. A huge crowd is expected and the County Board would like ALL Clubs to please supply 2 stewards to assist on the date.
