When willl we win another All Ireland
Sorry bogstandard I was talking about the county hurlers and footballers playing the same day (should have been clearer), it would also help get a bigger crowd at the games, in particular as people dont have as much money to travel every weekend to watch the games. The upshot of this would be freeing up other weekends for the club games in both codes. Whether or not the county board have the will to play these games in the summer months, I have my doubts.
Yeah hurlers going well, footballers not so much but hopefully they can get going again, although it is not looking good for them as this is 2 very bad years in a row. Maybe sunday will be the start for them.

cant have football and hurling the one weekend pinkie this is a dual county ,i as a club player dont fancy playing two games in a weekend maybe one on a wednesday night and the other at the weekend could work .
oulart should have beaten ballyhale last november they were unlucky not to win ,could have been the boost the county needed .But i am pretty impressed with the momentum the hurlers are building at the minute ,showing good and new faces involved .bit worried about the footballers ,lacking forwards and lacking team spirit hopefully on sunday they can get things going again

County Board website
I agree it was great last year for results and fixtures when they were kept bang up to date, not one fixture or result for this year. All the main county board officers who were dealing with this last year are still in place I cant understand what has happened, its a disgrace

Liam Spratts Comments
lads havent heard any suggestions on what this team is lacking a ball winner,we have pace in abundance in attack but not enough strength and we need someone with a good pair of hands and a good football brain.

Poor aul Liam.
Micheal O'Muircheartaigh's comments would be both witty and intellegent, wheras our liams would be more george bush like!
Its funny for a while but now id rather drive to cavan to watch them play rather than listen to liams rough interpretation of the game!!

When willl we win another All Ireland
Didnt Oulart only lose to Ballyhale after extra time? Dont think they are that far behind-it's the tail of the senior championship that is miles behind, but that is being reduced. The problem with the clubs is keeping lads interested through the summer when the long lay-offs are unacceptable. I've repeatedly said it that Wexford needs to try to get hurling and football on the same weekend. This would free up weekends for club matches which we currently can neither plan nor prepare for. This is ruining the club scene in the process. Lads can head off to America for the summer and not miss a match. Ridiculous situation.

I think Emmet Kent is 19. He is in 2nd yr in DCU. There is also Joe Cullen, very good, Alan Griffith, Thomas Clinche, Paddy Rowsome, Philip Murphy on the dcu panal.
Some of these players are deserving of a chance to see how they would fare at county but Kent is out on his own. I know he is rated very highly here in DCU.

Minor hurling team
Word on the street is that the Kk Minor team is very good this year lads.....
Its hard to deal with a conveyor belt like they have but I think that success at underage for certain counties is not what the focus should be, rather it should be the retention of guys between Minor-21-Senior level for future teams.
Other counties don't use the Intermediate championship to the same level of success as Kk either, again this team plugs those gaps a little by keeping players in the system...
Great to see Anton post in here, about time Wexford man. He is giving ye a bad name. I think ye will beat us by 7-10 points, but sure whatabout it, no point in scaring ye this year but falling back, incremental progress is the name of the game.

When willl we win another All Ireland
Looking at the Club All-Irelands yesterday our Club's scene is miles behind, Not only do we have to start doing it at underage we also have to start thinking of improving the Clubs themselves...And there's no one can get away from that, not even Oulart. Our problems stem from the top down.

Minor hurling team
wexfords minor team this year is a very talented if somewhat lightweight bunch. theres some very nippy and classy hurlers in there such as andrew kenny, james gordon, syl barron, diarmuid o keefe, cathal clince, gary moore and i fully expect us to compete and be seriousely competetive leinster final at least this year. One minor breakthrough followed by a competetive year at under 21 and senior this year would be a massive step in the right direction. im confident that wel be competetive in all grades of hurling this year. reaching and winning the league final and hurling to our maximun for 70 mins v galway and others in the championship would leave us in a very interesting position.

When willl we win another All Ireland
who else from wexford is on that dcu team? ive heard great reviews on emmet kent but have never seen him in the flash. how highly do the wexford\clongeen\dcu people rate him? is he under 21 this year? the lads are dead right with the club championship. the changes with the 3 teams getting relegated this year will help in giving the club scene more of an incentitiive but i still think more drastic changes are required to really improve things. My suggestion would be to have two groups randomly drawn of 8 teams in each group, top 4 in each team goes through to quater finales while bottom 4 in each group goes through to b competetion .. ie losers get relegated. this would ensure alot more competetive games for every club. In a perfect club in group 1 would contain - oulart, st martins, faythe harriers, rathnure, buffers alley, ferns, cloughbawn, shelmaliars, with group 2 contain the other senior teams , oylgate, marshelstown, glynn barntown, rapperees, cushingtown, blackwater, askamore. no disrespect to any clubs out there but completely 1 sided games do no1 any favours, a championship laid out in this format would hopefully lead to a more club championship. i know fitting in this amount of games would be hard but if games were played between county matches, it could be done. very much open to discussion, opinions welcome.

Minor hurling team
Given KK are dominating the colleges is there a risk this great white hope of a minor title won`t be reached?

All counties are working hard at underage.. I wouldn`t be convinced we are any better than others.. I don`t see a whole lot of coaching courses.. all clubs need quality coaches delivering top quality sessions..

When willl we win another All Ireland
Wow Anton1 finally posts on the Wexford site!! His other 18 posts were having a go at Carlow hurling on our forum.
Anyway, again you are wrong, i don't think there are too many here in Carlow who think we will win on Sunday. Expect us to get closer than last year yes, but still will be a good 7 or 8 points in it i'd reckon at the end.

Thrilled to see Emmet Kent from Clongeen is on hurling panel. Long overdue. Played very well for DCU throughout the year and had great game in Ryan Cup final. Scored in every match he played and is definitely dedicated. Seen him last year and this year here in DCU. Also there are other Wexford hurlers here who deserved to be looked at.

I agree with Pinkie. Its all about creating a high standard, really competitive club championship. Doesnt matter what development squads etc are out there (which are harder to be dropped from than get onto- we discussed this before). The club championship is the be-all-and-end-all. Without a strong one were never going to win anything again. Personally, I think that the fact the football championship has been moderately competitive the past few years is what got us to League finals and further in the championship. But the county board need to build on this. The club championship in Wexford is ignored in both hurling and football by the county board.

as regards football, theirs definately talent around, especially in the forwards where we have p j banville, ciaran lyng, shane roche, shane cullen, red barry and mattie ford (if he comes bck), This current bunch are not playing a style a football that allows them to reach their potential. were conceding too many scores, losing our shape and not getting enough or any good quality ball into our forwards which, when you have the scoring power that we certainly posses is criminal. Were taking too much out of the ball and not picking the right options when we do choose to release the pass. hope jason ryan recognises this and gets our players playing to our strenghts which would be getting quality low ball into the likes of ciaran lyng and shane roche where the can do damage. at present theirs several players in the football panel who, in my opinion aint anywhere near good enough so it could be a long time before we win anything in football.
