Experienced Wexford footballer Adrian Flynn's inter-county career may be over.

The 32-year-old played through the pain barrier to help his club Gusserane win the Wexford SFC title this year.

However, he sustained a cruciate ligament injury in the county final win over Glynn-Barntown and is expected to be out of action for nine months.

This would see him miss the majority if not all of Wexford's 2017 campaign, which is a huge blow to new manager Seamus McEnaney as Flynn's experience would have been invaluable to the squad.

It remains to be seen if Flynn will be back in the purple and gold in the twilight of his inter-county career.
