Wexford manager Liam Dunne has admitted that he is willing to stay on in the role for another year, while he also hit out at a former Wexford player.

Dunne knows that the ultimate decision will be down to the county board and the clubs, but he told the Wexford People that if they want him, he will stay on.

The Oulart-The Ballagh clubman has completed five years in charge of the Wexford seniors. This year saw the Model County reach the All-Ireland SHC quarterfinal where they lost to Waterford last weekend.

Wins over Offaly and Cork in the qualifiers have lifted the county and Dunne admitted to the Wexford People that they were a work in progress.

"There's a lot of young guys there, a very young panel that is there. If they want me to stay on I will, if they want me to go I'll go. We got some things wrong, but we also got a hell of a lot right," said Dunne.

"From last year in Nowlan Park if you look at the programme against Kilkenny, there are 14/15 players who have gone through retirement, injuries and the like.

"This year everyone's back was to the wall. There was a tweet from 'Gizzy' Lyng some time back about four years and no progress. This was disappointing as the same player said he hadn't time to give to any development squads."
