Eoin Doyle returns to the Kildare starting fifteen for their Leinster SFC opener against Wexford after a lengthy absence with a groin injury.

The Lilywhites team-captain has not seen any competitive action since playing for Ireland in the International Rules series last November, however, the Naas defender has recovered in time for the Croke Park clash on Saturday.

This weekend's quarter-final meeting with the Model County will come too soon for Niall Kelly and Daniel Flynn though who are both ruled out with injuries.

Manager Cian O'Neill has handed championship debuts to Kevin Feely in midfield, Adam Tyrrell at right half-forward and Neil Flynn at left corner-forward.

Kildare (SFC v Wexford): Mark Donnellan; Peter Kelly, David Hyland, Ollie Lyons; Eoin Doyle, Fergal Conway, Emmet Bolton; Kevin Feely, Tommy Moolick; Adam Tyrrell, Eoghan O'Flaherty, Paul Cribbin; Eamonn Callaghan, Alan Smith, Neil Flynn.
