Wexford Jack Guiney has returned to the Wexford senior hurling panel for 2016 but Tomas Waters has retired.

Guiney was dropped from the Model County squad during their championship campaign due to disciplinary reasons but manager Liam Dunne informed The Irish Independent: "Jack is back in the fold.

"He has given a clear commitment. We look forward to working with him as he can be a great player."

Meanwhile, Waters, who suffered a serious knee injury against Clare two years ago, has decided to hang up his inter-county hurl.

"I had a conversation with Tomas," Dunne said. "He was bitterly disappointed at having to call it a day.

"That's the measure of the man. He came back from a horrific knee injury but with no cartilage in the knee, found he was unable to stand up to the rigours and demands training places on him. I was so disappointed for him."

Waters becomes the fifth Wexford hurler to announce retirement after Rory Jacob, Daithi Waters, who is opting for football, Ciaran Kenny and Garrett Sinnott.
