Ciarán Deely in action for the Wexford footballers

Ciarán Deely has been named as the new London senior football manager.

The former Wexford footballer served as selector and trainer with the Exiles in 2015 and was ratified as last night's London County Board meeting to succeed Paul Coggins.

Sports scientist Deely has worked with academy players at Queens Park Rangers FC and is currently operating as a fitness coach in the Indian Super League.

He will return from Asia next month to take charge of London and is expected to name Brian McBrearty, Paddy Curtin and former London manager Noel Dunning as his selectors.

In a statement, London GAA said: "Ciarán brings a wealth of experience to the position. As a player he represented Wexford and Horeswood with distinction before moving to London and transferring to the Kingdom Kerry Gaels club who he won a Senior county championship with in 2013.

"In 2015 he served as trainer and selector under Paul Coggins with the London team. The County Committee would like to wish Ciarán, his backroom team and the players all the best for the season ahead."
