Wexford All-Ireland winner Eamonn Scallan is set to be named the county's new minor hurling manager.

Scallan was part of the Wexford side that defeated Limerick in the 1996 All-Ireland senior hurling championship final.

The Ferns St Aidan's clubman has worked with the under-16 development squad for the past two years and he is believed to be the ideal candidate to bring Wexford forward at minor level.

A minor hurling review committee was put in place following Wexford's surprise exit in the Leinster MHC when Westmeath defeated them.

Scallan is expected to be joined on the management team by Ger Coleman and Billy Byrne as well as others yet to be named.
