Wexford full forward Conor McDonald has revealed that the spirit in the squad ahead of Saturday's under-21 hurling final against Limerick is 'brilliant'.

The sides meet at Semple Stadium this weekend and it is expected to be a right good battle between two of the best counties at this level in the country.

Wexford need McDonald to have a big game on Saturday if they are to end 50 years of heartache and with the title again, but he stressed to the Wexford People that everyone on the squad was in the right frame of mind ahead of the final.

"The spirit is brilliant. We all went back to our clubs after the Antrim game, but eagerly looked forward to returning to preparations for the final. I think the lads could not wait to get back," said McDonald.

"The training has picked up, the spirit is outstanding, and the preparations are moving along excellently. The lads have all returned fully fit following the club action and this has united us as well."
