Wexford under-21 hurlers will be hoping to give the county a much needed boost when they take on Offaly in the Leinster championship at O'Connor Park this evening.

Manager JJ Doyle will have his three senior stars Liam Ryan, Kevin Foley and Conor McDonald available for the clash.

Following Sunday's drubbing at the hands of Kilkenny, and the minors' shock exit to Westmeath at the quarterfinal stage, Wexford hurling is at a low ebb at the moment.

Wexford are bidding for their third consecutive Leinster title and Doyle told the Wexford People that it was up to the players to show what they are capable of doing.

"It's a great opportunity for the lads to get back with a good performance, while it is also an opportunity for many players to put themselves in the shop window for the Cork qualifier game," said Doyle.

"If we get a performance from the team we are not going to lose. That is no way under-estimating Offaly but if we match them with desire and workrate we will win, but we know what to expect from them."
