Bolger included in Wexford committee

Horse racing legend Jim Bolger and champion jockey Davy Russell.

Well known horse racing trainer and Wexford GAA supporter Jim Bolger is part of a committee established by the county board to review minor hurling in the county.

Bolger who has had huge success both here and the U.K has been named on the high profile committee alongside Michael O'Grady (who will chair the committee), former Waterford mentor and Cork native Frank Flannery and accountant Justin Prendergast whose role will be to carry out a value for money review on underage hurling.

County Board chairman Diarmuid Devereux stressed that there was a need for the committee to be established in light of Wexford's loss to Westmeath in the Leinster MHC.

"We are not getting value for money. The minor hurling team over two years cost €70,000, while we got to an All-Ireland under-21 hurling final spending less money than what was spent on minor hurling in a single year," the Wexford People reports Devereux as stating.

"When appointed, management want success, players want success, but looking at under-16, minor and under-21 in two codes, something has to give. The reality is that it has to be dealt with. I'm collapsing the minor inter-county structure into the future."
