Kilmore GAA notes

May 07, 2015

Unfortunately the official opening of our new facility which had been scheduled for Sunday 17th May has had to be postponed. This is due to the unavailability of the Waterford Senior hurling team due to their involvement in the latter stages of the National Hurling league. We are all disappointed that this event will not be going ahead as planned but hope to be in a position to refix this for some future date. The club would like to thank all those that had already put so much effort into this event.

Our Junior hurlers were unsuccessful in their first round Championship game against St Martins on Sunday last. In what was a good and open game unfortunately we were defeated on a scoreline of 5-20  to 1-14. Our Second round game is on Sunday next 10th at 7pm in Kilmore against Buffers Alley, Hope to see plenty of support there for the lads.

Well done to our U16 hurlers (Kilross Gaels) who defeated Monagear- Boolavogue in their hurling championship game last Monday (4th May). After a poor performance and a heavy defeat to Bunclody in their opening game the boys bounced back with a terrific performance and won by 2-14 to 2-11 - despite having to play the entire 2nd half with 14 players due to a sending off just before half time. We started the 2nd half with a 6 point lead but Monagear with the benefit of the extra man had levelled the game with 5 minutes remaining at which point a stunning save by Dan Tierney kept us in the game when he dived full length to put the ball out for a '65. Monagear pointed the '65 to take the lead but great work by our defence and midfield led to a brilliant goal by Rees Broaders and he followed up with a point from a free to seal the win. Scorers - Rees Broaders (2-9), Adam Healy (0-2), Kevin Power (0-2), Padraic Reville (0-1). The squad was as follows: Kilmore - Dan Tierney, Darren Cousins, Ruairi Nunn, Padraic Reville, Croistoir Reville, David McDonnell, Dylan Jones, Dylan Moore, Diarmuid Cooney. Rosslare - Ben Hayes, Liam O'Connor, Andrew O'Connor, David Gouldson, Adam Healy, Kevin Power, Aaron Whitehead, Rees Broaders, George Gould.

Its back to football now with 2 games remaining before the exam break - home vs Bann Gaels on Monday 11th & away vs Cloughbawn on Mon 18th.

Our U14 hurlers had a good win last week at home to Monageer/Boolavogue. After a tight first half we lead by just 2 points at half time but in the second half the lads gave a great performance to win comfortably on a scoreline of 5-10 to 1-04. They lads face a tough assignment tonight (Thursday) when they travel to Oylegate/Glenbrien.

Our U12s open their campaign next Tuesday when they Face Bannow/Ballymitty in football in Kilmore.

Our Under 10s played 2 friendly games (Football) against St Fintans last Friday night, There were some great performances all around, They face Crossabeg/Ballymurn in a hurling friendly next Monday in Crossabeg.  Their league commences Friday 15th.

Our Under 8s had a friendly match against St Annes over the weekend also, Again some great performances to be seen. All the coaching of the winter is really paying off.

Congratulations to Vivienne McDonnell Neamstown  who won €200 in the April model County Draw. Many thanks to all who supported the draw and to all our ticket sellers also.
