Wexford are almost €500k in the black

Wexford celebrate their 2013 Leinster U21 HC final win over Kilkenny at Wexford Park.

Wexford GAA's finances are in a very healthy state after it was revealed that they have a net surplus of €482,695 for the year end.

Just three years ago, Wexford County Board were in dire straits financially, but since then they have managed to turn their financial affairs around.

County Board chairman Diarmuid Devereux will address delegates at next Monday's annual convention and show that their finances are in the healthiest state in the history of the board.

It is a remarkable turnaround for the model County as they had a debt of €3 million when they were paying for their centre of excellence at Ferns and redevelopment work at Wexford Park.

Commercial income within the county has risen by €64,152 in the last year due to an upturn in the economy, while their overall income has increased by €95,399 to €2,057,972.

Devereux stated to the Wexford People: "I am delighted with the accounts and the transformation for the association in the county. While we report a huge surplus which would have passed the half million euro mark had the senior football final been played before the accounts closed, we must not take our eye off the ball."
