Dempsey candidacy called into question

Glynn-Barntown's Tony Dempsey may not be allowed run for the position of Central Council Delegate.

Dempsey, who was unable to run for the position of vice chairman at last year's convention due to the fact that he was not a fully paid member of a GAA club within the period concerned.

Croke Park have informed the Wexford Board that under legislation introduced in 2001 that a delegate who previously served as a Central Council Delegate cannot let his name go forward for the position again.

However, Dempsey served before the 2001 motion was passed and county board chairman Diarmuid Devereux has ruled that the former county manager is eligible.
