Fitzhenry joins Model backroom team

Wexford keeper Damien Fitzhenry

Damien Fitzhenry will be an official part of the Wexford senior hurling think-tank in 2015.

The All-Ireland winning goalkeeper had an uncredited involvement this year, acting intermittently as goalkeeping coach behind the scenes, but will have a full-time brief next year as he replaces Tomas Codd as selector.

Manager Liam Dunne confirmed the appointment of his former team-mate in The Irish Times:

"I have announced to the players that Damien is coming on board as a selector. His experience should prove invaluable to the set-up. Tomas will still be part of the backroom scene as a video analyst but will not have any input into team selection.

"He has more than 2000 acres to farm and was unable to give the time required now at intercounty level. He made a major contribution as a selector during his time."
