Injury blow for champs

September 03, 2014

Defending Wexford senior football champions St Martin's may have to plan without county star Daithi Waters for their quarterfinal clash.

Waters injured his ankle in a hurling challenge last week and he missed their weekend SHC clash against Adamstown on Saturday last.

The county star attended the match on crutches, but was due to have an MRI on Monday to find out the full extent of the injury.

Waters told the Wexford People: "The swelling has subsided. I'm able to walk with the aid of crutches while not applying lots of pressure. With treatment and rest I'm confident of being available for the closing games of the football championship. It may take a little time, but hopefully not long."
