Following on from the confirmation that Davy Fitzgerald is staying on as senior hurling boss, there’s more good news for Wexford GAA.

The Model County has announced that Zurich Insurance has come on board as new main sponsor for a four-year period starting in 2020.

In a statement, Wexford GAA revealed: “This partnership has come about after extensive discussions with Wexford GAA’s commercial steering group and will underpin the further development of our games from underage to adult intercounty level.

“Wexford GAA has made significant progress in the last couple of years both on and off the field and the recent reappointment of Davy Fitzgerald as senior hurling manager and the appointment of Paul Galvin as senior football manager point to more exciting times ahead.

“The achievements of the senior hurlers in winning their first Leinster title in 15 years in 2019, and of the minor hurlers in winning the provincial title for the first time since 1985, give us a really strong platform to work from.

“Building a partnership with a global company such as Zurich that has a very strong presence in Wexford is another key step in the Wexford GAA journey.

“Zurich has grown its presence in Wexford since 2008 and it now employs over 230 people in the county and has demonstrated a strong commitment to the local community.”

Wexford chairman Derek Kent commented: “We are delighted to be announcing this sponsorship agreement between Wexford GAA and Zurich.

“We have a bright future across both codes with Paul and Davy at the helm and with excellent work being done at underage in our schools and clubs. We are excited to have Zurich, who have become embedded in the Wexford community, alongside us on the next phase of our journey as we aim for continued success at all levels of Wexford GAA.”

The Chairman also thanked the outgoing sponsor, GAIN Animal Nutrition, for their strong support since 2014.
