Wexford manager Paul McLoughlin has been dealt a blow ahead of the start of the NFL.

The Model County kick off their National League Division Four campaign with an away trip to Carrick-on-Shannon to face Leitrim on Sunday, January 27th.

However, they will have to do so without talented forward Paul Curtis who informed the management team that he was withdrawing from the squad last week.

McLoughlin told the Wexford People that Curtis had informed him that work and home commitments were his reasons for leaving the squad.

“He had made the decision to leave the panel as he was coming under a lot of pressure timewise. It’s a pity as obviously, he will be a loss,” said McLoughlin.

The loss of Curtis has been eased slightly by the return of experienced duo Daithi Waters and Brian Malone.
