Shelmaliers 2-11

Kilanerin 2-11

The Wexford SFC final is heading to a replay next Saturday after wing back Simon Donohoe's stoppage-time point earned Shelmaliers a draw with Kilanerin at Innovate Wexford Park.

It completed a late comeback by the first-time finalists who were facing defeat after Niall Hughes' 50th minute goal had propelled last year's intermediate winners Kilanerin into a 2-11 to 2-8 lead. But despite losing full back James Cash to a second yellow card, Shelmaliers reduced the deficit to the minimum through points from Craig McCabe (free) and Donohoe before the latter earned them another bite at the cherry.

After captain Eoin Doyle had kicked Shelmaliers into an early 0-2 to 0-0 lead, Kilanerin took control and led by 1-4 to 0-2 after former All Star Matty Forde fisted home a 23rd minute goal. However, two goals in a minute from the outstanding Donohoe and full back AJ Lehane gave Shels a 2-3 to 1-4 lead. But Forde replied with a brace of points to leave it all-square at the break.

Shelmaliers led by 2-8 to 1-9 after 46 minutes, but two more Forde points and a Niall Hughes goal put Kilanerin in a winning position with 10 minutes to go.

But Shels dug deep to force a replay.
