Former Wexford kingpins Oulart-The Ballagh will not contest the knockout stages of the county senior hurling championship this year.

Having won seven out of the last nine Wexford senior hurling championships, Oulart have been the team to beat in the county over the last couple of decades.

They won their first title in 1994 and since then have moved to second on the roll of honour list on 13 titles, seven behind leaders Rathnure.

And it was Rathnure who ended Oulart’s interest in this year’s campaign as they recorded a three-point win to advance to the quarterfinals.

Indeed, Oulart only avoided a relegation play-off by virtue of having scored more than Glynn-Barntown as the sides were level on points and score difference.

Is this the end for the great Oulart team? Only time will tell, but one thing for sure is they won’t be lifting this year’s county title.
