Wexford manager Paul McLoughlin is set to be handed a second term in charge of the side, according to reports.

The Wexford People report that McLoughlin will be given the nod to remain at the helm despite the county having a poor year.

The Kildare native was brought in at the end of 2017 and county secretary Margaret Doyle revealed that McLoughlin was set to be offered a second year in charge.

"He (McLoughlin) is away in America on holidays at the moment but on his return in August we will be meeting up with him, when he will be asked to remain on for a second year. That's the plan at the moment," said Doyle.

"We hope he will also strengthen his backroom for 2019. That will be discussed."

Wexford were relegated from Division Three in the NFL. In the Leinster SFC, they performed admirably against Laois, losing out after extra time, but they suffered a humiliating defeat to Waterford in the qualifiers to bring the curtain down on their year.
