None
Very slow start to the league with some key players missing but we improved as it went on
We always struggle in portlaoise. They are a much better team at home.
The two key games are at home vs kerry and meath

Does bottom team of the round robin get relegated to Christy Ring or is there a playoff?

Whats gone wrong!!!! From the highs of this time last year with the seniors and u21s , all of a,sudden things looking not great along with the minor teams poor year. I definitely think the league structure is not doing westmeath any favours, the league needs to change to facilitate the likes of westmeath, kildare meath etc. Laois won yesterday on account of playing in a higher division even though they got two heavy beatings the experience stuck to them. Westmeath are a better team on paper than laois no question

We didn't score for about 15 minutes in the middle of the 2nd half. Couldn't win any primary possession and didn't get to any breaking ball in this period. Hitting Niall Mitchell seemed to be plan A. He was winning everything that was aimed for him to run onto during the first 45 mins. However when he was static under a high ball the full back was man handling him and his threat neutralised - this was most of the ball that was hit in during the final 20 mins or so. In the first half Maloney tried to catch a ball that was dropping just over the bar but he spilled it into the square and it was bundled home. He also missed another ball that was deflected out for a 65 which was pointed. That said he made two outstanding saves to keep us in the game. Small margins in the end but concession of frees and that 15 minute period where we couldn't win possession were the difference for me. Aside from the negatives, there was plenty to positive about and we've every chance of winning the next two games. A few regulars returning will also boost our chances.

If Westmeath were good enough we'd be up in Division 1B.
The league is fine
