Under 10 Garrycastle U10s took part in a blitz in Caulry GAA on Tuesday July 4th. Despite missing a number of regulars, we were still able to field 2 teams and played against Lilliput Gaels, Rosemount and Mullingar Shamrocks. Both teams played 2 matches each. Each of the 4 matches provided very exciting viewing for the spectators present. This panel of players are ever improving and our hard training is really starting to pay dividends. Some of the tackling, blocking, fielding and score taking really was a joy to watch. Thanks to Caulry for a very enjoyable evening. U14 Championship V Castletown Finea Coole Whitehall (CFCW) Garrycastle 5-06 CFCW 5-04 Our U14s played their second game in this year's championship on Sunday afternoon in Garrycastle in glorious sunshine against the North Westmeath Amalgamation of Castletown Finea Coole /Whilehall. After a hard battle, the Garrycastle lads emerged victorious by 2 points in a game where they certainly did not perform to their best and were guilty of some poor finishing. However they stuck to the task and showed great composure in the final 10 minutes to get the scores required to win. They know an improvement will be needed in future games but they deserve great credit for winning this game and for the manner they kept going even when it looked like the game was going away from them. Adult Football The senior and junior championships start next weekend with the seniors playing Tyrellspass on Sunday evening at 7pm and the juniors playing Rosemount away on Thursday evening at 7.30pm. Lotto The Lotto numbers for Monday July 10th 2017 were 6, 17, 26, 29. There was no Jackpot winner. There was one Match3 winner - Geraldine Murphy, Altown, Garrycastle, receiving 100€.
