Semi-final heartbreak for U16 team

Kilbeggan/St. Joseph's suffered a heartbreaking extra-time defeat to Tubberclair (Shannon Gaels) in their Division 3 championship semi-final at Milltown last Sunday.

Forced to line out without the injured Yuri Tierney, our task was made even more difficult when we were reduced to 14 players midway through the first half. But the lads showed great heart to force extra-time through a late Danny Scully equaliser, only to lose by a point in the end.

Despite the disappointment of missing out on a place in the county final, the players and mentors can be proud of their efforts throughout the season.

Team: Diarmuid Egan; Daniel Daly, Declan Rogers, Andy Conway; Darragh Coffey, Aidan Stones, Dean Slevin; Niall Carey, Ross Elliffe; Martin Ward, Brian Keegan, Jordan McDonnell; Cathal Finn, James Hanlon, Niall Pickering. Subs: Danny Scully, Conor Carroll and Eoin McCormack.

ACFL Division 3

We were handed a walkover by Garrycastle in the All-County League last Sunday. The two points greatly increases out chances of retaining our Division 3 status with just a couple of rounds remaining.

Lotto

Last week's lucky numbers were 6, 14, 16 and 27. No match three winners; Bree Collins and Mai Cunningham were the draw winners. Next week's jackpot will be €3,600.

Dual stars

It was great to see two Kilbeggan Shamrocks men, Mike Tormey and Colm Heffernan, lining out for Tullamore RFC in their AIL win over Bangor in Spollanstown last Saturday.

Good luck Tyrrellspass!

The very best of luck to our neighbours Tyrrellspass in next Sunday's SFC final against St. Loman's. Congratulations are also extended to Castletown-Geoghegan on capturing the MHC last Sunday. Unusually, Kilbeggan had no representation on the team, but we did have Conor Carroll and Cathal Finn on Castletown's U16 Division 2 winning team a fortnight ago. Well done also to our other near-neighbours, Ballinamere-Durrow, on winning their first ever Offaly MHC title last Sunday.
