St Pauls Clonmellon notes

August 25, 2016

Junior Championship

St. Pauls will play their quarter in the coming weeks and even though it's going to be the our biggest game of the year to date, the opposition and date & venue has yet to be confirmed. Keep an eye on our facebook page for updates. When we know you will know too. The lads are 2 games away from appearing in the County Final; please come along to the game to support the team.

Juvenile Details

Our Summer Camp which ran every Tuesday and Wednesday morning from 10am-12 noon for the months of July and August has now come to an end. All proceeds made from it will be put towards buying a Deliberator machine for the club. We had great fun for the last two months with the future stars of St. Pauls GFC Clonmellon - we hope all the children enjoyed it as much as we did and we wish all the children well are they prepare to return to school.

Training for our U-10's continues this coming Tuesday evening at 7pm. U-12 training continues next Monday evening, venue and time to be confirmed. The St. Ernans U-14's continued their winning ways with a 6 point win against Inny Gaels last Thursday and a comfortable win against Ballycomoyle yesterday evening in Clonmellon. Hard luck to the U-16 footballers who lost out by 5 points to St. Marys Rochfortbridge in the opening round of this years Championship.

Next Sunday sees the return of the St. Pauls GFC Family Fun Day. To mark the end of the Summer (what Summer says you!) and to send the kids back to school with smiles on their faces, St. Pauls GFC will have a fun filled day of activities to say thank you to all those who attended our Summer Camp over the last two months. We're hoping that the weather will be kinder to us than last year but either way a fun time for all is guaranteed. Admission is free so come on down to our club grounds next Sunday where the fun begins at 2pm.

5K Family Walk/Run.

We had a great turn out for our 1st (of many) 5K fun run last Friday evening. Thanks to all who took part and helped out on the day - it was a great start to a very special weekend in Clonmellon.

Best of luck

All of us here at St. Pauls GFC would like to wish the St. Paul's/Delvin ladies football team the very best of luck in their upcoming County Final against Garycastle this coming Saturday in Cusack Park, Mullingar with a throw in time of 12 noon. We are asking everyone to come along to the final and shout/cheer/roar for the girls as the bid to bring home the cup for the very first time.

Hard Luck.

Hard luck to the Brownstown hurlers on their Championship defeat to Castletown-Geoghegan last Saturday. We wish them the best of luck for their remaining fixtures in this year's Championship.

Well done.

St. Pauls GFC would like to say well done to the organizing committee of last Sundays brilliantly ran Clonmellon Potato Festival. The weather tried its best to ruin the day but it failed to dampen the spirits of this group of people, those who helped out on the day and those who attended. This years festival had something for everyone who attended from live music to cooking demonstrations, games for the kids to try their hand at, food stall etc etc. So hats off to the organizers for making this happen - we are already looking forward to next years event! Clonmellon - "The real birthplace of the Irish potato".

Well done to the St. Pauls-Delvin U-12 girls football team who have qualified for their 2nd county final in as many years.

Congrats to all those who received their leaving cert results and college places in the last week.
