Feis Cup St Lomans Mullingar 1.16 Garrycastle 0.08

St Lomans progressed to the latter stages of the Feis Cup with a win in Garrycastle on Saturday evening last. The ideal weather conditions made for a free flowing game of football. Things were tight in the early stages with both teams trying to stamp their authority on the game. Garrett Hickey (3) and Ken Casey were on target for the blues in the opening twenty minutes with the duo combining well on a number of occasions. Points from Eoin Monaghan, Seanie O Donoghue, Garry Mc Callon and Michael Monaghan had the sides level on the twenty five minute mark but it was from here St Lomans took control of the game. Kelvin Reilly restored St Lomans lead after a long possession spell where many teams would have shot wastefully but the blues waited for their opening as Reilly raised the white flag when the chance arose. Sean Flanagan operating at midfield seemed to thrive there and a wonderful catch towards the end of the half proved he was a natural at this position. Garret Hickey(2) added to his tally before the break to leave the scoreline 0.07 to 0.04 in favour of the visitors. Both teams were unlucky not to have had goals early in the second half with a goal line clearance denying Garrett Hickey while a wonderful save from Jason Daly kept St Lomans lead in tacked. A sweet effort off the left boot of Conradh Reilly extended St Lomans lead while this trend continued when Kelvin Reilly kicked a point thanks to great work from Daniel Sheridan. St Lomans really stepped up a gear as they continued to clock up the scores. Full back Jay Toole set up Conradh Reilly for his second point after a speedy run out of defence. David Windsor(2) added two points to cap a decent performance while the Reilly brothers also added to their tallies. Blues keeper Jason Daly pulled off a second save to ensure a clean sheet. Substitute James Cox was fouled in the closing stages and Garrett Hickey coolly converted the resultant penalty to seal the win for St Lomans.
