It's been a memorable few days for the Carr family.
Last Wednesday evening in his adopted Mullingar, former Dublin football captain and manager Tommy Carr was part of the Westmeath U21 hurling backroom team that masterminded a famous championship victory over Kilkenny.
And yesterday, Tommy's 16-year-old son Simon won his second ITF (International Tennis Federation) tournament in five weeks in Budapest.
Simon, who left school last year to embark on a career as a professional tennis player, defeated top seed Nikita Mashtakov in three straight sets in the Grade 2 Hungarian ITF U18 singles final. It followed his victory in a Grade 3 event in Tunisia last month.
Carr's latest success is expected to see him break into the world's top 150 U18 tennis players for the first time.
