Kildare are the outright leaders of Division 3 this evening after they made it two wins from two against Offaly in Newbridge.

Kevin Feely enjoyed an excellent debut at midfield as the Lilywhites survived a late scare to defeat their neighbours by 1-12 to 1-8. They led by double-scores, 0-8 to 0-4, at half-time and when Eamonn Callaghan played in Cathal McNally for a 47th minute goal to increase their lead to 1-9 to 0-4, it looked all over bar the shouting.

But a Peter Cunningham penalty set up a tense finish.

Could Westmeath be set for a third successive relegation? That is what disgruntled Lake County supporters are asking themselves after Tom Cribbin's men slipped to their second defeat in a week against Sligo at Markievicz Park.

Last year's Leinster finalists got off to a disastrous start and trailed by 0-1 to 0-8 after 27 minutes. But they finished the first half very strongly and aided by a Ger Egan goal, trailed by the minimum at half-time, 1-4 to 0-8.

Shane Dempsey brought the visitors level midway through the second half, but the Yeats County immediately replied with a goal from Kyle Cawley. John Heslin's seventh point left the minimum in it with time running out, but Sligo held on for a 1-11 to 1-10 victory.

At Glennon Brothers Pearse Park, Longford recorded their first win of the campaign thanks to a fine comeback victory over Limerick.

It was 0-5 apiece at half-time, but the Treaty restarted strongly to open up a 1-8 to 0-6 lead with Tom Lee finding the net. However, Denis Connerton's men scored the last seven points of the game to prevail on a 0-13 to 1-8 scoreline.

Brian Kavanagh top-scored with 0-5, while Barry McKeon and Brian Farrell also contributed to the late scoring burst.
