St Benildus College 2-7 Marist College 1-6

Stillorgan-based St Benildus College were crowned Leinster Colleges SF 'A' champions for the first time in O'Connor Park this afternoon.

Early goals from Paddy Flaherty and Joe Rafferty sent the Dublin school on the road to a deserved victory as they proved too strong for Marist College of Athlone.

The scoreboard read 2-4 to 0-3 in St Benildus' favour at the halfway stage thanks to the goals which arrived in the 6th and 11th minutes respectively.

A converted Ryan Gaffey penalty nine minutes after the resumption gave the Fergal Wilson coached Marist a glimmer of hope but they were unable to wrestle control from the winners who celebrated a historic first provincial success.
