New Westmeath under-21 football manager Emmet McDonnell will begin work on assembling a squad now that his backroom team has been ratified.

The former Offaly manager will be joined by senior manager Tom Cribbin on the line as both will work closely together this year.

Also part of the management team are Castledaly's Patrick Costello, Killucan's Graham O'Connor and The Downs' Stephen Cleary.

McDonnell will also be part of the senior footballers' backroom team and he replaces former All-Star recipient Gary Connaughton as selector.
