St Josephs GAA Notes

November 23, 2015

Scór na nÓg:
The opening rounds of Scór na nÓg will take place next weekend and St Josephs will be represented in both semi finals which are on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th November. The semi final on Friday night is one which we are hosting at the Horseleap/Streamstown Community Centre  so we will need help and support on the night to ensure that it is a success. The club will have representatives in Music and Set Dancing both nights with possibly competitors in the Solo Singing and Recitation as well. The participation levels have taken a dip not just within our club but in general over the past couple of years so perhaps a good turnout on both nights will help rejuvenate some interest certainly in St Josephs. We have a proud Scór history so let us not lose that tradition. Proceedings commence at 7-30pm on both nights.
Annual General Meeting:
The Club Annual General Meeting is not being held until Friday 8th January 2016. In recent years, we generally have had the AGM in December but the decision has been taken to hold off until the new year so we do ask people to keep the date in their diaries.
5km Walk:
Well done to all who participated in the 5km walk from St James Park in Kilbeggan on Sunday which was held in aid of the Kilbeggan/St Josephs Underage club. It was probably the best turn out that we have ever had and shows that the underage wing is vibrant at the present time.
Village Run 2016:
St Josephs will hold another edition of our popular Village Run on Sunday 3rd January 2016 with the course starting in Streamstown village and ending in Horseleap over a 7km course. The club has run this twice annually for the past two years and it has become a very enjoyable event for all participants.
Lotto:
Our Lotto Jackpot now stands at €1600 for the next draw which is in Ryans on Sunday 29th November in Ryans. The last draw on Sunday 15th November was in the Beech Tree with the numbers drawn being  9,11,19 and 24 with two match three winners of €50 each. The winners were Daire Lynam,Syonan,Streamstown and Joe & Therese Gorman,Kilbeggan.
Appreciation:
Our Thanks to Kilbeggan Shamrocks for accommodating us on Sunday 8th November for our final league game of 2015 against Mullingar Shamrocks. As the community field had a prior booking, we needed to source an alternative venue and our underage partners came up trumps at short notice.
