Bernard Flynn has stepped down as Mullingar Shamrocks manager in the wake of their Westmeath SFC semi-final defeat to St. Loman's.
After guiding Shamrocks to last year's county final, which they lost to Garrycastle, the Meath legend was determined to go one better this year, but they were well beaten by their town rivals at Cusack Park last Sunday.
"I said I'd give it two years and I've given it my all," Flynn told the Westmeath Topic.
"We just need to rethink and refocus on where we are going.
"When I look back on it, we definitely left the championship behind us last year after beating St. Loman's. We had two quarter-finals, two semi-finals and didn't finish the job."
