SFC Semi Final Result = Castledaly 0-18 Tyrellspass 1-12
Among the many messages of congratulations and best wishes we received after the match on Sunday was a tweet that said "Massive win for Castledaly, some turn around since last year. I don't think anyone in Westmeath saw that coming"

This highlights the continuing hard work the team have dedicated to ensuring that last year's near relegation events are consigned to history and  the quality and future of this club is again on display.

And quality indeed was on display as Castledaly produced an exciting entertaining and high scoring semi final performance that has been hinted at in their earlier outings.
Points from Lorcan Dolan (2,1FK), Niall Duffy (2),  and Alan Stone (2) brought both teams to half time on equal scores, as Castledaly balanced a powerful attacking style with a very strong performance from their midfield and defensive unit with Paddy Holloway, Gordon Duffy, MJ Kelly, Derek Heavin, Liam Fitzpatrick, Enda Kelly, John Warburton, particularly in excellent form.

Tyrellspass showed again and again why they are worthy semi-finalists and also previous holders of the Championship title; causing Castledaly to concede a goal and five points in the second half.  But a John Warburton block on a goal opportunity inspired Castledaly to greater effort and their relentlessness and determination were rewarded with several free kicks - all dispatched by Brendan Kelly (1, 4fk) in a rich vein of form.  Other scores from the magnificent MJ Kelly, Lorcan Dolan, Alan Stone (3), plus the final score from Paul Kelly sealed this well-deserved victory.  Alan Stone must get special mention for a performance that indicates underlined the improvement in this team in the last twelve months, and Alan's continuing evolution into a top class county footballer.
The winning margin could have been greater as Lorcan Dolan was unlucky not to score a goal from an incredible piece of individual skill, seemingly zig sagging between defenders to see his shot bravely blocked by the Tyrellspass keeper; while Niall Duffy and Paddy Holloway were off target when a goal seemed the easier option in the last minutes of the game.
