U14 d 3 County Final 2015
St. Marys took on Rosemount in cusack park last saturday morning.
St. Marys started very strong in the first half and were really up for it.Midfield was a real battling point early on and our lads dealt with it very well and moved the ball with great conviction and gave some great balls into our forward line.We were starting to dominate around the field but just not managing to make the dominance count on the scoreboard.Rosemount did get going themselves and got some good scores but they were having to work extremly hard due to the very strong defending by the St.Marys lads.We held a slender lead in the first half and Rosemount were awarded a penatly after a foul in the box which was converted and this gave rosemount there tails up and it was from here we were able to see If this was a game changer,Rosemount were playing well but our lads stood up and grabbed this game by the scuff of the neck and showed it was going to take more than this to put these lads down.We went in at the break up 4 points and playing well.we knew the resonse was going to come. The second half stared with rosemount taking the ball down the field and hitting the net to put just one between the sides.St.Marys yet again didnt panic and there was points exchanged but it was going to be nip and took throughout the second half with st.marys really standing up and playing some great possession play and getting some well worked scores.Subs also came in and They worked a treat also and steching rosemount defensive which we were able to rattle there net again. The closing stages was naol bitting but our lads didnt panic one bit and turned the game on its head with cool thinking and great team effort and never say die attitude and st.marys ran out winner 5-04 - 4-02.WELL DONE ST.MARYS GREAT TEAM EFFORT.
U12 Jim McHugh Tournament game (St.Marys vs Tubber)
We played tubber in a challenge 4 months ago and were on the end of a heavy defeat to them.
We were drawn against them in this competition on sunday morning in rochfortbridge. Both sides started strong in this game in glorious sunshine and it was all to play for for both sides,Our defence was keen to be alot tighter today and that they were. They dealt very well with the big full ford very well and used our pace to our advantage and really never gave them room to do damage in the first period. Our midfield partnership was imence in this half and working as a unit and mopping up some great balls and delivering well through field. Our forwards were playing very well and up against a good defence in tubber .Tubber did create some goal chances. One of which went sloppy to the net and our goal keeper kept us in the game with some cracking saves and wonderful fielding.Tubber went in slightly ahead at the break. The second half was really much the same and we seen some great play and obveously our lads took note of the u 14,s the day before and also had that never say die attitude. With a few mins remaining we were just behind by 2 points but we just just couldnt get and nearer and with us trying to get the those scores we were just unluckly be hit by a late goal and a point and Tubber ran out winners 2-10 - st.marys 1-06.This was a cracking game out football on display and our lads can hold there heads held high and we look forward to the last group game next week before the semi finals.AS IT GOES NAOMH MHUIRE ABU.....................
